On December 25, 2024, on the anniversary of the tragedy that occurred during the scheduled flight J2-8243 of Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL) on the Baku-Grozny route, a memorial event dedicated to the victims of the tragedy was held at the Faculty of Agronomy of the Azerbaijan State Agrarian University (ADAU) with the participation of students and teachers.
At the event, the memory of the victims of the tragedy was first commemorated with a minute of silence.
In his speech, the head of the Social Sciences Department, Elgun Aslanov, stated that the anniversary of the tragedy was marked with deep sadness and emphasized that the memory of the victims would always be commemorated with respect and that this painful event would never be forgotten.
Employees of the Department of Social Sciences Abdurahman Kazimov, Samira Gasimova, Sevda Abdullayeva and Chinara Safarova emphasized in their speeches that human life is the highest value for President Ilham Aliyev. From the very beginning of the accident, the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Aktau began to operate at the scene.
Emergency rescue agencies, in coordination with the Kazakh side, took urgent operational measures. It was noted that the families of those who lost their lives in the plane crash are constantly surrounded by the state with attention and care, and that they are provided with the necessary social and moral support.
The crew members who died in the line of duty – Igor Ivanovich Kshnyakin, Alexander Georgievich Kalyaninov and Hokume Jalil gizi Aliyeva – were posthumously awarded the title of “National Hero of Azerbaijan” for their high professionalism, courage and selflessness in the performance of their official duties. The awarding of the surviving crew members – Zulfiqar Sardar oglu Asadov and Aydan Vagif gizi Rahimli with the Order of “Rashadat” of the 1st degree was noted as an example of the deep respect shown to the victims of the tragedy.
