A meeting was held jointly by the Agricultural Insurance Fund and the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University (ADAU) to inform university students about the agricultural insurance system supported by the government in Azerbaijan. The session highlighted the importance of this system and explored potential job and collaboration opportunities in the field.
During the event, Valeh Asadov, head of the Shamkir Regional Branch of the Agricultural Insurance Fund, gave a detailed presentation. He explained the working principles and significance of agricultural insurance in Azerbaijan, as well as the role of the Fund in supporting the agricultural sector. He also noted that there are opportunities for cooperation with students studying relevant subjects at ADAU.
Participants were also informed about the role of agricultural insurance experts. The presentation covered the necessary training and examination procedures required to receive an expert certificate, along with the system used to assess the experts’ work. According to a decision by the Cabinet of Ministers, individuals with vocational, associate, bachelor’s, or master’s degrees in about 70 different specialties can become independent agricultural insurance experts. To qualify, candidates must first participate in training organized by the Fund and then pass an exam administered by the State Examination Center.
It was noted that these independent experts are responsible for evaluating risks and damages in agriculture. This is a paid service-experts receive both service fees and travel allowances.
As a result, professionals working in this field can earn an additional monthly income of approximately 1,000 to 2,000 AZN. The presentation by the Insurance Fund generated significant interest among the students. Many questions were asked and answered, students were invited to consider collaboration, and gifts from the Fund were distributed to them.
