Innovative Approaches to Plant Protection Discussed at the Agricultural University

An awareness-raising seminar was held at the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University (ADAU) with the aim of studying the experience of the Republic of Türkiye in the agricultural sector and applying modern innovative methods.

The seminar, jointly organized by the Agrarian Services Agency and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), brought together representatives of the Karadeniz Agricultural Research Institute of Türkiye. The institute’s director, Associate Professor Ilyas Deligöz, along with agronomists Ebru Gümüş, Mustafa Kılıç, and Eşref Yavuz, met with the university’s academic staff and students to share their expertise in plant protection.

The FAO Representative for Azerbaijan, Bariz Mehdiyev, also participated in the event and emphasized the relevance of the topic for the region.

During the presentations, particular attention was given to environmentally friendly biological control methods that minimize the use of chemical pesticides in agriculture. It was highlighted that maintaining ecological balance in plant protection not only increases productivity and quality but also contributes significantly to the restoration and sustainability of soil resources. In addition, the key advantages of the “Türkiye model” applied in this field were presented.
