On February 10, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Vice President of the United States of America, James David Vance, delivered press statements. The Head of State spoke first.
During the joint press statement, President Ilham Aliyev emphasized that relations between Azerbaijan and the United States have entered an entirely new stage. He noted that the signing of the Charter on Strategic Partnership reflects the intensive work carried out by the delegations of both countries over the past six months.
Six months earlier, the historic meeting with President Donald Trump in Washington and the signing of a document on the establishment of a working group to draft the Charter on Strategic Partnership created new opportunities for bilateral cooperation. The signing of the Charter on Strategic Partnership by President Ilham Aliyev and U.S. Vice President James David Vance marked the beginning of a new phase in relations between the governments of Azerbaijan and the United States. The Charter establishes a framework for cooperation in areas such as defense, security, trade, and investment.
President Ilham Aliyev assessed the International Peace and Prosperity Trump Route Project (TRIPP) as follows:
“This is a highly reliable, secure, and large-scale transport corridor that will connect the two parts of Azerbaijan and link Asia with Europe through the territories of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and other neighboring countries. Thus, the achievements made in the field of peace in the region are being strengthened. Today, relations between the United States and Azerbaijan are entering a completely new stage.”
As emphasized by the President, this project demonstrates Azerbaijan’s growing role in the global economic, trade, and transport-communication systems.
The visit of U.S. Vice President James David Vance to Azerbaijan is significant in terms of implementing the agreements reached on August 8, 2025, between the two countries.
