First of all, the President’s speech represented the presentation of the new regional realities shaped by Azerbaijan to the international community. In particular, the idea that the post-conflict stage in the South Caucasus has now transitioned into a stage of stability and cooperation was presented as the main line defining Azerbaijan’s political agenda.
This approach demonstrates that Azerbaijan is no longer merely a party to the conflict, but also acts as the architect and initiator of peace in the region.
One of the notable political messages of the speech was the firm support for the principle of sovereignty and territorial integrity of states. This thesis can, in fact, be evaluated as a clear political position against the selective application of international law. The principle emphasized by the President demonstrates that Azerbaijan consistently and decisively defends its national interests on the global stage. At the same time, this message may also be interpreted as a political warning addressed to European institutions.
The special emphasis placed by Ilham Aliyev on energy security in his speech was not accidental. Today, Azerbaijan acts as a reliable and strategic partner on Europe’s energy map. Against the backdrop of the policy of diversifying energy resources, Azerbaijan’s role has increased even further, and the country has become not only a supplier of resources but also one of the guarantors of energy security. This is one of the main factors increasing Azerbaijan’s geopolitical significance.
Another important point was the emphasis on Azerbaijan’s transport and logistics capabilities. Within the framework of the Middle Corridor project, the country’s transit potential serves as a new economic bridge between Europe and Asia. This reality strengthens Azerbaijan’s strategic position in the global trade system and turns it into an integral part of international economic integration.
Another noteworthy direction in the speech was the issues of green energy and sustainable development. This demonstrates that Azerbaijan presents itself not only as a traditional energy country but also as a state adapting to modern challenges and embracing an innovative development model. This approach positively affects the country’s international image and creates a basis for the formation of new cooperation formats.
The very format of the speech via video conference can also be regarded as a separate political and technological message. It demonstrates that diplomacy has entered a new stage in which states are capable of establishing effective political communication even without physical participation. This approach stands out as one of the key advantages of modern diplomacy in terms of efficiency and flexibility.
Overall, Ilham Aliyev’s speech at the Summit Meeting of the European Political Community is a consistent manifestation of Azerbaijan’s independent, multi-vector, and principled foreign policy course. Through this speech, Azerbaijan once again strengthened its position as one of the main actors shaping the new political order emerging in the region. At the same time, the country’s status as a strategic partner for Europe, its role in energy and logistics, and its peace initiatives were clearly and systematically conveyed to the international audience.
In general, this speech can be regarded as the continuation of Azerbaijan’s military achievements in the diplomatic and economic spheres, demonstrating that the country’s geopolitical influence will continue to expand in the new era.
